AAA Lists the Most Dangerous Counties in NC for Auto Accidents

Each year, AAA Carolinas publishes a list of the most dangerous counties for vehicular accidents.  The list is divided into various categories, including collisions involving injury, motorcycle accidents, tractor-trailers accidents, and fatal accidents.

Collisions Involving Injury

According to AAA Carolinas, the top five most dangerous counties where someone was injured are Graham, Pitt, New Hanover, Wayne, and Gatson counties.

Motorcycle Accidents

The most dangerous county for motorcyclists is Graham County.  The county is home to Tail of the Dragon, an eleven mile scenic mountain road that has 318 curves.  Tail of the Dragon, also called Dragon’s Tail, attracts bikers and driving enthusiasts from all over the world.

Tractor-Trailer Accidents

The five counties rated most dangerous for tractor-trailer collisions were Anson, Hertford, Washington, Bladen and Duplin.

Most Fatal Crashes

The most perilous county with the highest total number of fatal crashes was Mecklendburg, with 69 fatal crashes.  Wake had 61, Cumberland 50, Robeson 47, and Guilford 39.
