Recently, a study conducted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine confirmed that chronic neck pain was common among people involved in car accidents.  According to the study, nearly 4 million people visited the hospital emergency departments after being involved in a motor vehicle collision each year.  The study revealed that persistent pain is common among accident victims, yet many victims neither pursued nor received compensation for their chronic neck pain.  The study enrolled individuals from eight emergency departments in four states.  Even six weeks after the accident, more than 70 percent of individuals reported persistent musculoskeletal pain.
