NC Car Accident Attorney Discusses
What to Do After an Auto Accident

If you or a loved one have been involved in an auto accident, there are several things that you should do in order to avoid forfeiting important legal rights.  Tien Law Firm’s auto accident lawyer will fight to protect your rights and will aggressively pursue your claim, but there are several things that you can do to increase your chances of financial recovery.

Take Photos

Take photos of the accident scene, the cars involved, and your injuries.

Get Contact Information for Witnesses

When liability is contested, witnesses can be crucial in determining what occurred.  It is important to get their contact information early in the investigation because as time passes, they may become hard to locate and their recollection of the event may fade.

Seek Medical Treatment

If you are hurt, you need to see a doctor.  In addition, this will provide medical documentation of your injuries.  Be sure to keep track of all doctors and treatment facilities that you see.

Contact Tien Law Firm

The earlier that your attorney is involved, the more help they can provide.  Questions by the other party’s insurance company can be directed to your attorney to make sure that your interests are being protected.  Tien Law Firm will provide the legal support you need so that you can rest assured that a skilled attorney is on your side.

Call Your Insurance Company

Call your insurance company and notify them of the accident.  Be careful what you say to the insurance company about the accident, and DO NOT share information about your injuries.  Your statements with the insurance company are likely being recorded and can be used as evidence against you at a later time.

Get a Copy of the Police Report

Visit your local police office and file a report, or obtain a copy of the report filed by the officers at the scene.  Tien Law Firm will obtain the police report for you.

Gather & Save Evidence

Keep all evidence that may be helpful to support your injury claim.  For example, save all receipts for medical bills and prescriptions, save pill bottles, save pieces of glass or metal that was removed from a wound, and other items used in your recovery.
